Abstract

Thirty-one individuals with HIV-1 infection were evaluated in theAmbulatório Especial da Área de Doenças Tropicais, da Faculdade de Medicina of Botucatu, Brazil,UNESP. Sixteen went through psychological evaluations in different moments, being used the Object Relations Test and the Adaptive Operationalized Diagnostic Scale. Associations among epidemic, clinical, laboratorials and psychodynamics data, considering the natural history of the disease were verified. The infection acquired through drugs consumption, implied in aids development, neurological diseases, internments and serious ineffective adaptation. Individuals with: aids, prevalence of the psychotic operation of the mind, pregnancy and/or precocious sexuality, impulsivity and irritability presented deterioration of adaptive effectiveness along time. Patients with suicidal ideation and/or severe or serious ineffective adaptation present a falling line of tendency of CD4+ CD8+ and a high viral load. Most of them presented chronic depression of the psychotic type. Positive correlation was observed among TRO and EDAO-R, TRO and CD4 +, and EDAO-R and CD8+ was observed.
