Abstract

TORRES, Sandra  and  GUERRA, Marina Prista. Construction of an assessment instrument for the emotions in anorexia nervosa . Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2003, vol.4, n.1, pp.97-110. ISSN 1645-0086.

Studies that analyse the relationship between anorexia nervosa and alexithymia suggest a relation between them, pointing out the frequent presence of alexithymic diagnosis in anorectics' subjects. Despite the existence of some investigations around this relation, it's still unclear the anorectic's emotional process. In this article a construction of the Emotional Assessment Questionnaire for Anorexia Nervosa (QAE-AN) is described. The Emotions Differential Theory reformulated by Izard (1991) and its primary emotions detailed characterization (interest, joy, surprise, anguish, anger, disgust, contempt, fear, shame, sadness and guilty), were the support of this measure. It includes common anorexia nervosa situations, behaviors and thoughts, contributing to an adequate assessment of the emotions felt by these patients.

Keywords : Alexithymia; Assessment instrument; Emotions.
