During their contact with the health care system and health professionals, patients develop a set of attitudes towards doctors and medicine that are derived from their personal experience. This paper describes an exploratory study that assesses the relationship between patient satisfaction and attitudes toward doctors and medicine. The results revealed that these two variables are related and show the importance of addressing patients cognitive representations and socio-demographics characteristics on their satisfaction with the health care system. Implications for health professionals training are also presented.
