The adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action (PFA) in 1995, at the Fourth United Nations World Conference on Women, was a turning point in the global agenda to achieve equality between women and men. In this year of 2020, the PFA celebratesits twenty-fifth anniversary, and the global evaluation of its implementation is currently taking place. This article intends to present the importance of PAP, to analyze the path taken until its adoption and the subsequent revisions. It also seeks to clarify what is happening during the current review process, Beijing +25, and to analyze the Portuguese and European context.
