The motto of Maria Lamas, Always higher, pointed love to the future and beyond. Cultural pettiness, sexism, fascism and the Cold War summarized her eighty years work, in the Encyclopedias,  as a writer of children's books, as well as a militant “elected to the World Peace Council (communist)” . The most fundamental, which we highlight in this paper, was not mentioned: her refusal of ideologies, her consistent action to promote women, the protection she gave to the co­-exiled in Paris, her continuous pedagogical and political action for Humanity's salvation, based on love. Not by chance, a recent biographer defined Maria Lamas as a heroine of the XXth century.
