This paper analyses the Brazilian nursing social representation during the 20´s and 30´s, in relation to the black female movement in São Paulo. The article aims to interpret the representation meanings of the standard nurse linked with the political economic system called the Era Vargas (1930-1945). It also pointed out that the strength and dominant representation was dissolved with the women´s organization identified as Black Legion nurses during the Constitutionalist Revolution in 1932.
