Resumo

MARQUES, Gabriela Mota. A “maior humorista de todos os tempos”: A sátira antifeminista na imprensa portuguesa [1885-1914]. Faces de Eva. Estudos sobre a Mulher [online]. 2014, n.32, pp.93-111. ISSN 0874-6885.

The distance between the paradigms or representations socially defined for the women and their behaviors, as well as their attitudes and attributes is the source of ideas, prejudices and unfavorable images about the femininity, in the same way that endangers the gender roles. That is the propitious territory for antifeminism. Overcoming the narrow sense of the term that identifies it as the opposition to feminism and the intentions of emancipation and vindication of women rights, antifeminism also includes interpretations, stereotypes and rooted traditions about the female imperfect nature and inferiority. In this article, emphasis is placed on the satirical writing and cartoons, exploring the direct and implicit meanings that laughter about femininity and the women provide as risible objects.

Palavras-chave : antifeminism; gender; laugh; social representations.
