Abstract
FARIAS, Rogério. Missed links: feminine activities in luso-brazilian diplomacy, 1780-1822. Ex aequo [online]. 2019, n.40, pp.15-30. ISSN 0874-5560. https://doi.org/10.22355/exaequo.2019.40.02.
In the last decades, the field of diplomatic studies went through a meaningful transformation. Part of this change results from the impact of gender studies, which disrupted traditional formalist analysis. This article is a first step towards the study of a specific group of women associated with diplomatic activities in Portugal and Brazil. Despite formally excluded from diplomacy, they performed important roles at the beginning of the 19th century. I will argue that this success was a result of the role they played in royal courts and the lack of a gendered division between work and home environments in the diplomatic arena
