Abstract

AMARAL, Virgílio. Lay theories about intelligence: developmental and gender perspectives. Psicologia [online]. 2002, vol.16, n.1, pp.237-256. ISSN 0874-2049.

In this work we present a review of empirical researches on lay theories about intelligence, according to gender and developmental perspectives. We try to fit the researches in three theoretical and empirical frameworks: a cognitive-developmental perspective, the theory of the personal conceptions about intelligence and multidimensional studies on common sense conceptions about intelligence, linked to social representations theory, in particular the European researches. Common and distinct aspects are discussed.

Keywords : Teorias implícitas; inteligência; desenvolvimento; género; representações sociais.
