Abstract

PINA E CUNHA, Miguel; VIEIRA DA CUNHA, João  and  LEAL, Isabel Pereira. Gender and organization theory. Psicologia [online]. 2001, vol.15, n.1, pp.27-41. ISSN 0874-2049.

Efficiency and effectiveness have been, throughout the years, organization theory's major concerns. The focus on organizational results, rooted on the functionalist paradigm and justified by the applied nature of the discipline, has been challenged by critical organization studies. One of the major variants of a critical theory of organizations, is the feminist approach, which intends to infuse feminist thinking on organizational theorizing. This paper outlines an overview of the foundations of a feminist theory of organizations, and illustrates the importance of gender for the analysis and understanding of organizations.

Keywords : Organizações; género; feminismo.
