Abstract

BESSA, José  and  TAVARES, José. Approaches and Strategies of Self-Regulated Study in First-Year College Students. Psicologia [online]. 2000, vol.14, n.2, pp.173-187. ISSN 0874-2049.

This paper describes goals, instruments and methodology of a research project initiated in 1999, with the main aim of diagnosing and characterising the variables related to academic adjustment and self-regulating processes of 420 students in the common 1st year of science and engineering programs at the University of Aveiro. For the purpose, three instruments are constructed and/or adapted. The results evidenced a close link between personal, interpersonal and institutional dimensions taken into consideration in the academic and self-regulating academic processes. The results also showed some significant differences on the dimensions and variables under analysis.

Keywords : Ensino superior; competências de estudo; ajustamento académico; metacognição; auto-regulação.
