Abstract

CASTANHEIRA, Lurdes  and  CAETANO, António. Dimensions of psychological contract. Psicologia [online]. 1999, vol.13, n.1-2, pp.99-125. ISSN 0874-2049.  https://doi.org/10.17575/rpsicol.v13i1/2.562.

Psychological contracts are a set of beliefs held by the employee about his and the organisation's reciprocal obligations; In a time where work relationships are in strong mutation, this construct has revealed some heuristic validity in the study of the work relationship. Although there's, already, some empirical studies focusing on psychological contracts, most of the literature is theoretical in nature, concerning the nomothetical characterisation of the concept or the theoretical models of his antecedents and effects. This paper presents a systematic review of the empirical and theoretical literature of psychological contracts and the results of an empirical research. In a sample of 126 "contact" employees of a Service organisation, their psychological contract dimensions were investigated. Five dimensions were identified: individual recognition, organisational dedication, extra-role behaviour, formal contract and monetary reward. The change towards a more transactional, in contrast with the "old" relational, psychological contract is discussed.

Keywords : Contrato psicológico; violação do contrato; tipos de contrato de trabalho.
