Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Abílio  and  AMANCIO, Lígia. Influences on Death' Perceptions and Social Representations. Psicologia [online]. 1998, vol.12, n.2, pp.213-235. ISSN 0874-2049.  https://doi.org/10.17575/rpsicol.v12i2.578.

This study belongs to a larger research in which we intended to analyse and understand the social construction of death. We departed from the social fact that death rarely occurs in private contexts - and that seems to assume dramatic outlines. In the experiment reported here the effect of the context where death takes place (private or familiar and public or hospital) on the perceptions and emotions were analysed. Participants were biology, medicine and nursing students of both sexes.

Keywords : morte; representações sociais; contextos sociais.
