This study aimed to identify the perception that the health care team and family caregivers of terminally ill at home have in relation to the care given to these during the dying and death process. It is an exploratory-descriptive research with a qualitative approach, realized with five health professionals and four family of terminally ill, involved to the Home Care Service in a teaching school in southern Brazil, in 2009. How instrument for data collection was used the semi-structured interview.For analysis of data was used to Content Analysis of Bardin. The home is perceived as the ideal place the care of terminally ill, by providing greater comfort and proximity family. The educative actions are fundamental to ensuring the quality of care provided. However, a better understanding about the death may contribute to the implementation of humanized actions that aim a better quality of life those who die.
