The document chronologically presents the most significant dates and facts related to Nursing Education in Portugal. The main goal is to convey, in a practical and didactical form, synthesized information to the reader. Legislation and relevant events for the development of schools, the education and the research in Coimbra are pointed out starting in the year of 1881, when the oldest Portuguese Nursing School was founded, until nowadays.
