Objectives: to understand the importance that nurses attach to the Humanitude philosophy of care based on Method and Humanitude by Gineste and Marescotti; to identify the extent to which nurses report that they apply the principles of the Method of Gineste and Marescotti in practice. Methods: Descriptive study developed from data collected from a sample of 160 nurses, the population covered by the Regional Section of the Center of the Order of Nurses and who voluntarily answered the survey online. The instrument for data collection, developed and validated, consists of 28 items in the dimensions “approach tuning” and “proactive consolidation". Results: The nurses interviewed stated that consistent approach procedures (90.31%) and proactive consolidation (85.47%) were important or very important. Only 2.21% downplayed the Method. In care practice, nurses said that they often or always applied the principles tuning approach (83.05%) and proactive consolidation (69.69%). Conclusions: Using a strategy of observation in context, we intend to verify in future research the consistency between the views expressed and actual practice.
