SILVA, Iara G. y SANTOS, António J.. Quality of attachment and internal working model of Self in a group of child burn victims. Rev. Enf. Ref. [online]. 2011, vol.serIII, n.3, pp.85-93. ISSN 0874-0283.
The aims of the present study are to analyse the relationship between quality of attachment to mother and internal models of the self in a group of child burn victims. The sample was made up of fifty children, aged between 62 and 95 months. Data were collected using the Childs Drawing of the Family (Kaplan and Main, 1986) to measure the childs representation of the quality of attachment and the Puppet Interview (Cassidy, 1988) to evaluate the internal model of the Self. Results showed the relationship between attachment relationship established between mother and child and the organization of the childs internal model of the Self. Thus, we may conclude that the quality of attachment is related to the way children adapt to an altered body image after suffering a burn accident.
