SABOIA, Vera Maria  y  VALENTE, Geilsa Soraia Cavalcanti. Practice in health education in nursing in consultations and meetings with groups. Rev. Enf. Ref. [online]. 2010, vol.serIII, n.2, pp.17-26. ISSN 0874-0283.

Reflective synthesis of educational activities with undergraduate students in nursing at the Antônio Pedro University Hospital, Universidade Federal Fluminense - UFF Program Extension Education in Health with Diabetes. Objectives: To describe the practice of health education in nursing consultations and meetings with a group of diabetic patients in the UFF and to discuss the dynamics of participatory educational work, from the viewpoint of nursing students. Method: Action Research. We observed students in the classroom, during field training and in group meetings, trying to capture the relationships they established with clients, and the problems that challenged their perceptions of the situation and the opportunities for change. We used various procedures for data collection, such as teaching products, results of evaluation work and dynamics developed in class and monographs prepared by the end of the course. The settings were the School of Nursing and University Hospital. Data analysis was performed using thematic categorization. Results: This content analysis led to construction and discussion of the analytical category named “Another way of doing health education.” Conclusion: We identified the importance of nursing education for acting as an educator with a critical, progressive and transformative perspective.
