GONCALVES, Carlos. The market issue and the questions emerging in relation to the current crisis. Economia Global e Gestão [online]. 2011, vol.16, n.2, pp.9-18. ISSN 0873-7444.

The crisis that emerged at the end of the first decade of the 21st century, with devastating consequences at global scale, brought to public debate that which may be signalized as the concept of “market” . It is precisely that matter which constitutes the object of the present article, with particular emphasis in that which may be considered the use (and abuse) of the responsabilization attributed to the market in the discourses produced and in the debates that took place in various media. Starting from an “exhaustive” ontologization of the market, the commentators attributed it the guilt of all the known evils, as well as of others still not anticipated, “diabolizing” the market and travestying it as an entity to which there could be charged responsibilities, masking, erasing, or trying to hide, those upon which the responsibility truly falls: the so-called “market agents”, who are the accountable entities and identities. Considering this issue, this article is intended at giving a contribution towards the comprehension of the main veilings and strategic operative dynamics behind the production of such discourses. In that sense, apart from market concept, other topics will be addressed such as: value , value accumulation , financial field prevalence , financial risk , commoditization of risk and speculation , interlinking these with market concept.

Palavras-chave : Market; Value; Financial Risk; Financial Pricing Models; Speculation.
