Abstract

LIMA, Marinús Pires de  and  NUNES, Cristina. “Alterglobalisation” in Portugal. Economia Global e Gestão [online]. 2008, vol.13, n.1, pp.125-142. ISSN 0873-7444.

The World Social Forum stands for the peak of world’s social and cultural diversity meeting. It is a place where social movements and Non Governmental Organizations may, at the same time, spread their national and regional struggles for a solidary globalisation and make connections. In Portugal, the «alterglobalisation» still has not reached the status of a social movement, due to the fact that it is yet at the stage of criticising through public demonstrations instead of pointing out positive aspects.

Keywords : Globalisation; Social Movements; World Social Forum; Portuguese Social Forum.
