Abstract

MOTA, Luís F.. Public policy implementation studies: a literature review. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2020, n.92, pp.133-150. ISSN 0873-6529.  https://doi.org/10.7458/SPP20209211728.

The goal of this paper is to present a critical literature review about Policy Implementation Studies, so to contribute to the development of this discipline in Portugal. The relevance of this analysis derives from implementation still being scarcely studied in the country, particularly with a procedural approach, even if being frequently identified as one of the main lacuna within national public governance. The paper starts with an analysis on the main contributes from the different generations of implementation studies and from its recent developments, and it concludes with a set of clues on how to develop research in this discipline.

Keywords : public policies; implementation; frameworks of analysis.
