Abstract

KLEIN, Ricardo. City and tourism: Experiences from the management of street art. Sociologia [online]. 2018, n.tematico8, pp.54-71. ISSN 0872-3419.  https://doi.org/10.21747/08723419/soctem2018a3.

This article proposes a discussion between the city and tourism based on different initiatives of street art management. In this sense, one of the central objectives is to analyze how this urban artistic practice is used as a means of tourism and of revalorization of the city, be it community sense or gentrification. For example, creating circuits of street art or strengthening the sense of territorial / neighborhood belonging of its inhabitants. For the analytical framework, the participant observation technique was applied and several street art routes were carried out in cities such as Barcelona, Berlin, Porto, Montevideo and Lima. Finally, we worked with a collection of 22 thousand photographs made in situ in different Latin American and European cities.

Keywords : city; tourism; management of street art.
