The aim of this paper is to investigate the pluralization of personal networks in Portugal through a life- course perspective. Grounded on a representative sample of individuals born in three cohorts, we aim to map the diversity of configurations of personal networks based on the types of ties included. Through a cluster analysis, we identified seven types of configurations, which are associated with distinct social profiles. Thus, revealing the crucial role of birth-cohort, but also the importance of structural and family factors
