The aim of this paper is to analyze the assumptions usually made by economic forecasts and their social consequences. According to a social reflexivity perspetive, it will be shown that economic forecasts are central issues in sociology when they are not considered as a descriptive tool but as a performative instrument which produces a certain kind of economic scenario. This paper deals with the social dimensions of economic forecasts focusing on their relationship with economic laws, the intentional and unintentional production of economic performances and also ethno-economics based on common sense
