Abstract

SILVA, Ana Alves da  and  ALMEIDA, Joana. Spaces of social innovation: actors in movement(s). Sociologia [online]. 2015, vol.30, pp.35-54. ISSN 0872-3419.

The article reflects on the relation between social movements and social innovation, questioning its appositions and intersections and sustaining the first as a main actor of social innovation. Starting with a review of the social innovation concept, some of the theoretical fundamentals of the social movements' analysis are then considered in order to affirm social innovation as an eminently collective phenomenon. Without neglecting the necessary reference to a few empirical cases, the article ends pinpointing some of the major interrogations regarding the relation between social movements and social innovation studies

Keywords : social movements; social innovation; collective action.
