Abstract

GOMES, Patrícia; QUEIROS, Paula  and  BATISTA, Paula. Anticipatory socialization for teaching: A study with Physical Education Students. Sociologia [online]. 2014, vol.28, pp.167-192. ISSN 0872-3419.

This study aims to know the reasons for choosing a training course of Physical Education teaching and identifies the socialization agents addressed to this choice. In an extensive component was applied a questionnaire to all students in the first year of master degree on Faculty of Sport, University of Porto and in the intensive was used a semi-structured interview with 10 students. Descriptive measures and content analysis were used. The intrinsic reasons for choosing the course prevailed followed by the extrinsic and lastly the altruistic. The family emerged as the primary agent of socialization for sport and physical education teacher to teaching
