Abstract

NICO, Magda. Patterns of home-changing and life events: analysis of residential careers. Sociologia [online]. 2014, vol.28, pp.103-127. ISSN 0872-3419.

The moments or events of life when the individuals change home and the duration and conditions of their permanence in such homes contributes in a relevant manner, in the study of social change, to the analysis of the period, generations and age effects, fundamental to the life course perspective. In this paper, these relationships are explored through the life events - professional, domestic or disruptive - responsible for the process of changing home. This analysis is developed with the longitudinal dataset of the Project “Residential Trajectories and Metropolization: continuities and changes in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area” (ISCTE-IUL, Dinâmia-CET), funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and kindly made available for the purpose of this publication

Keywords : residential mobility; housing careers; life-events.
