Abstract

DE´CARLI, Caetano  and  COSTA, Elizardo Scarpati. The social movements and the critical epistemology to the local of production of scientific knowledge. Sociologia [online]. 2013, vol.26, pp.139-162. ISSN 0872-3419.

The following article moves toward an approach about the scene of knowledge about theories of social movements. Starting from a conception derived from Boaventura de Sousa Santos and Anibal Quijano theories, we set the assumption that the acquaintance has a location and so with that we advance with questions regarding the history and the epistemology from the different theoretical lineages of social movements. From that sense, our central issue here discussed is: why keep caring on social phenomenon’s that are so present in the South with a conjectural referential crystallized in the North? We have as main intention, not only, the qualification of the debate regarding some concepts frequently moved toward in that study field, but also the reflection about other situations of collectivities counter-hegemonic that emerge from the world today.

Keywords : Social movement; Epistemologies of the South; Movimento dos Trabalhadores Sem Terra (Landless Workers Movement).
