Abstract

GASPAR, Sofia; RAMOS, Madalena  and  FERREIRA, Ana Cristina. Comparative analysis of divorces in national and bi-national couples in Portugal: 2001-2010. Sociologia [online]. 2013, vol.26, pp.81-111. ISSN 0872-3419.

The aim of this article is to develop a comparative analysis on the evolution of divorces in national and bi-national couples living in Portugal between 2001-2010. The article starts by critically revising previous studies on divorce in binational couples, to then analyze its evolution during the decade 2001-2010. As such, we will focus on the structure of divorce having into account different social and family profiles, the level of education and the professional context of the spouses. At a final stage, we will critically summarize the results found here and suggest future lines of research

Keywords : Divorce; Bi-national couples; Immigration; Portugal.
