Abstract

FRANDOLOSO, Denize Cristina Leite et al. Lettuce seeds quality evaluated by accelerated aging test. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2017, vol.40, n.4, pp.10-19. ISSN 0871-018X.  https://doi.org/10.19084/RCA17009.

Accelerated aging as a vigor test has been one of the most used, and its application suits many crops. The aim of this research was to analyze the applicability of the accelerated aging test in the vigor of lettuce seeds (Lactuca sativa) by its correlation with other tests for the expeditious evaluation of the physiological quality of the horticultural seeds. Six lots of lettuce seeds were used. The first count of germination, standard germination, electrical conductivity, accelerated aging, controlled deterioration, and seedling's field emergence was performed. The design was completely randomized, with four replications. The use of the accelerated aging test at 41°C per 24 h period using saturated NaCl solution is indicated for the evaluation of lettuce seed vigor.

Keywords : electrical conductivity test; controlled deterioration; Lactuca sativa L.; seedling’s field emergence.
