PRADO, Eber A. F. et al. Effect of scarification of a haplustox in post harvest cane sugar. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2014, vol.37, n.4, pp.414-421. ISSN 0871-018X.

The cultivation of ratoon has been adopted as an essential practice to increase the longevity of ratoon cane sugar, since this practice is adopted as a feature to reduce soil compaction. With the objective of evaluating the effects of scarification on post- harvest sugar cane in soil physical properties and yield of cane sugar, an assay was performed in the region of Ponta Porã - MS, using the third ratoon. T1: variety ‘SP81 3250’ the treatments were chisel tillage depth of 15 cm + fertilizer; T2: chiseling 30 cm depth + fertilization; T3: T4 and fertilization: control without chiseling and without fertilization. The soil measurements performed were the resistance to penetration, density and porosity of the soil, and in addition plant height, diameter and number of stems; productivity and technological characteristics of cane sugar were evaluated. The chiseling caused significant differences in penetration resistance, bulk density and macroporosity in the 0-15 cm layer, but no difference were found in the 15-30 cm layer. There were no significant differences in the production of cane sugar and the technological characteristics of the crop.
