Abstract

TORRES, Francisco E. et al. Performance of hybrid corn grown in different spacing in the region of Brazilian savanna. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.4, pp.411-416. ISSN 0871-018X.

The research was conducted to evaluate the effects of different row spacing and hybrid maize yield components and crop yield in the Cerrado region of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Central-west Brazil. The experiment was conducted at the University of Aquidauana - State University of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the agricultural year 2010. The statistical design was a randomized block design in a factorial design (3x2) with four replications. The treatments consisted of combinations of two row spacing’s (0.45 and 0.90 m) and three hybrids (AG9040, P30F35 and P30K75Y). The spacing of 0.90 m showed highest values of spike length, number of grains per spike and productivity for the hybrids. The hybrid P30F35 showed higher number of grains per spike, weight of hundred grains and productivity.
