Abstract

MADEIRA, Manuel  and  RICARDO, Rui P.. Soils of Cape Vert and their classification according to the world reference soil base. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.4, pp.377-392. ISSN 0871-018X.

Studies regarding mapping and classification of soils in Cap Verde territory, as well as those which take into account land evaluation classification are identified. Such studies are typified and their potential integration in the current knowledge analyzed. Considering the available information on soil resources, it is concluded that it does not allow a simple transference to the universal taxonomic systems (including the World Reference Soil Data Base, WRB), given the inadequacy of data analysis and the absence of analytical information. Finally, the main actions to lead to the functional organization of the available information on soils of Cap Verde are outlined, considering agrarian development, management of territory, natural resources management and environmental quality.

Keywords : Soil; natural resources; soil mapping; soil classification.
