Abstract

RAMOS, Bárbara Z.; PAIS, Paula Sant’Anna M.; FREITAS, Wellington A.  and  JUNIOR, Moacir de Souza D.. Evaluation of physical water attributes in a oxisol under different tillagesystemsLavras/ Minas Gerais/Brazil. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.3, pp.440-446. ISSN 0871-018X.

Once you modify the complex balance of soil attributes, either through mismanagement or changes in water content and its energy state, the retention and storage of water in the soil, mechanical properties, for example, will be directly affected, reducing productivity and increasing production costs. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the physical and hydraulic properties of an Oxisol (RH) under three management systems: pasture, coffee plantations and native forest. The particle density (SD), bulk density (Ds) and microporosity (IPM) showed no significant differences between the managements. The greater water retention in soil was obtained in the area under coffee. Based on the values of the parameter S managements did not alter the soil physical quality. The hydraulic conductivity of soil under forest was higher than other management systems studied

Keywords : Management practices; S parameter; Water retention curve.
