Abstract

CAMILO, Yanuzi Mara Vargas; SOUZA, Eli Regina Barboza de; VERA, Rosângela  and  NAVES, Ronaldo Veloso. Phenology, production and precocity of Eugenia dysenterica plants aiming breeding. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.2, pp.192-198. ISSN 0871-018X.

The aim of this study was to relate the phenology of Eugenia dysenterica DC. and climate conditions, selecting the most productive and precocious plants. The study was carried out in the area cultivated E. dysenterica in Escola de Agronomia at the Universidade Federal de Goiás (EA/UFG), Goiânia, GO, Brazil. Total height and the circumference of the stem 10 cm above the ground was recorded. Studies of phenophases occurred weekly from September 2011 to April 2012. Climatological data were obtained at Station Evaporimétrica EA/UFG. The plants, with 14 years showed height of 3.6 m to 7.5 m and stem circumference of 38 cm to 81 cm. The largest leaf emergence occurred in September, along with the budbreak of buds and flowers, and fruiting in October. Progenies of Catalão, Luziânia, Goiânia and Senador Canedo stood out for earliness and yield, being suitable for future breeding.

Keywords : Biometrics; cagaiteira; phenological patterns; savannah.
