Abstract

FRAZAO, Carlos. Historical curiosities about the life of SCAP. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2012, vol.35, n.1, pp.294-299. ISSN 0871-018X.

With regard to a tribute recently done to all the Presidents of SCAP, from its foundation in 1902, some historical facts that took place during the first years of its existence are reported here. For example, are remembered the names of the most important associates responsible for the creation of the Society, the form as the Directions were elected, some curious determinations of the first Statutes, the meeting locations, main activities such as tributes, etc. In particular, is referred Professor Ferreira Lapa, born in 1823, considered the father of Agricultural Education in Portugal and Master of the Portuguese Agronomists, who has been the subject of several tributes on the part of our Society. It is also remembered Professor José Veríssimo de Almeida, one of the founders of SCAP and its main driving force during the early years of the life of this Society.
