Abstract

AMARO, Pedro. The labels and safety data sheets of pesticides toxic to honey bees. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2011, vol.34, n.1, pp.93-109. ISSN 0871-018X.

To reduce bee poisoning by pesticides it is very important: to know the hazard classification (HC)to allow the selection of the less dangerous pesticides; and the adoption of the safety precautions (SP), as SPe8, namely Do not apply to crops in flower or when flowering weeds are present, already recommended by the Laboratório de Fitofarmacologia in 1965, almost 50 years. The graves official and pesticides suppliers informations' deficiencies were evaluated by the analysis of 66 labels and 80 Safety Data Sheet (SDS), accessible in the set of 115 products of 40 active ingredients, that allows the conclusion of a very high probability mortality of honey bees by pesticides.
