Abstract

CASTRO, Carlos  and  MARTINS, Pedro. Flax varieties trial at different seasons. Phenological behaviour and production. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2010, vol.33, n.2, pp.53-60. ISSN 0871-018X.

We present the results of an experiment conducted in Vila Real (Portugal) by a partnership with the University DeMontfort, to evaluate the behavior of varieties of linum (flax), Linum usitatissimum L., at two periods of sowing. We analyzed several phenological parameters and the production yield. No differences were registered between the varieties. However, the autumn sowing proved to be significantly more productive than the spring one, resulting in taller plants with larger diameter.

Keywords : Flax; Linum usitatissimum L.; phenology; production.
