Abstract

PERISSINOTTO, M.; MOURA, D. J. de  and  CRUZ, V. F. da. Evaluation of the production in dairy cattle in different climatization systems. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2007, vol.30, n.1, pp.135-142. ISSN 0871-018X.

This study evaluated the thermal efficiency of different systems of evaporative cooling; sprinkling (TA) and fogging (TN), conjugated with the forced ventilation, in the improvement of the internal microclimate of the installations and in the productivity of dairy cattle. The study it was carried through a cow house provided with free-stall system in the interior of Sao Paulo/Brasil.Ten animals of Holstein Frisian breed per treatment were used. Collection of data occurred in November of 2003 during 21 consecutive days. Outside and inside climatic data in each treatment were recorded and the Index of Temperature and Humidity (THI) was calculated. The system of evaporative cooling evaluate had not differed with relation to the climatic variables. Both systems (TA and TN) had kept an environment with thermohygrometric conditions inside that recommended in the literature. The feed intake was similar with both cooling systems, however, the system of cooling by sprinkling (TA) leads to an increase of 8% in the milk production, compared with the fogging system (TN).
