Abstract

Torres Vedras municipality, member of the Portuguese Heath Cities Network, develops since 2008 a set of politics and practices promoting healthy lifestyles and habits. This article aims to describe the main contours of this «action-intervention» held by this municipality. Firstly, questions related with the Health Profile and Health Development Plan of Torres Vedras are addressed. As far as politics and practices directed to children and youth are concerned, a first approach is made around studies of habits and lifestyles. Secondly, the dynamic of «+ Saúde: Hábitos e Estilos de Vida Saudáveis» program, that operates with the scholarly population in issues such as: nutrition, physical activity, hygiene, tobacco, alcohol and drugs abuse, sexuality and bullying. During a final stage through an approach around the Municipality Diagnostic, Prevention and Combat Plan on Children Obesity, a special highlight is given to this problematic, which as been evidenced in Torres Vedras.
