This theoretical work intends to present Sidney Blatt’s model and to discuss some of its clinical implications. The article is organized in different sections. We begin by approaching the author’s conceptualization on depression, then we describe his proposal on the development of personality and the two personality styles he has poposed:, anaclític and introjective. Next, we refer to cognitive-affective structures or schemas and to the two psychopathological configurations described by Blatt. We continue by discussing the relations between these two psychopathological configurations and then make a synthesis/reflection on the model. The article ends with a discussion of the clinical implications of the model.
