DIAS, Pedro et al. Viabilidade da monitorização da intervenção psicoterapêutica com adolescentes com recurso a aplicações móveis. Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2016, vol.34, n.1, pp.1-14. ISSN 0870-8231.  http://dx.doi.org/10.14417/ap.1047.

Systematic monitoring of psychological intervention is a key element for evaluating the clinical efficacy of an intervention and for adjusting it to the clients’ individual needs. Over the last decade, we’ve been witnessing rapid changes in technology, as well as the emergent use of technological applications and devices in psychotherapy processes. The need for implementing psychotherapy monitoring processes has followed this technological evolution. This study is part of a larger project aimed at developing a new mobile application for monitoring psychotherapy with adolescents. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 therapists from different clinical settings, with the purpose of knowing their perceptions regarding the feasibility of using a mobile application for monitoring psychotherapy processes. The interviews were aimed at exploring the feasibility of conducting monitoring procedures during psychotherapy processes with adolescents, as well as the possible relevance of using mobile applications in therapy. Prior to the interviews, therapists were asked to sign an informed consent form, a confidentiality agreement, and a sociodemographic form. The interviews were transcribed and a semi-inductive analysis of content was performed using NVivo 10 software. Results showed that psychotherapy monitoring processes are perceived as relevant by the therapists, not only for their professional practice, but also for the clients. Therapists identified factors that facilitate the use of mobile applications in current clinical practice. From their reflection concerning the feasibility of using new technologies in psychotherapy monitoring, advantages and constraints related to this process, for both therapist and client, emerged in the interviews.
