MENDONCA, Mariana    MATOS, Paula Mena. Conciliação família-trabalho vivida a dois: Um estudo qualitativo com casais com filhos pequenos. []. , 33, 3, pp.317-334. ISSN 0870-8231.  https://doi.org/10.14417/ap.904.

This exploratory study aims to understand the balance between work and family domains in dual earner couples, with toddlers and preschoolers, using a qualitative method. The sample was composed by 8 couples, 16 participants. Each was individually interviewed using a semi-structured interview, designed by the authors. Results suggested that participants experience compensation, segmentation and specially spillover in their attempt to balance work and family. Some conciliation strategies emerged associated with intimacy dimensions beyond the more functional ones, such as care and respect, authenticity and self-disclosure with the romantic partner. The spouse is referred as a secure base and a safe haven, suggesting that attachment and intimacy have a role in the couple’s work-family conciliation process.
