The aim of this study was to translate “The Father’s Role Questionnaire” to Portuguese and to test its factor structure for fathers and mothers, in a sample of 200 bi-parental families, with pre-school age children. Results support the uni-factor structure of the questionnaire for fathers, showing adjustment indices that support the good quality of the model. For mothers only a bi-factor model has shown to be adequate. Results suggest that the beliefs and attitudes for Portuguese fathers and mothers may have different structures.
