Abstract

CATRE, Maria Nazarete Costa et al. O domínio SRPB (Spirituality, Religiousness and Personal Beliefs) do WHOQOL: O estudo com grupos focais para validação da versão em Português europeu do WHOQOL-SRPB. Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2014, vol.32, n.4, pp.401-417. ISSN 0870-8231.  https://doi.org/1014417/ap.32.3.872.

The aim of this study was to present the qualitative phase, using the methodology of focus groups, in the development of European Portuguese version of the WHOQOL-SRPB (Spirituality, Religiousness and Personal Beliefs). The sample included 90 participants, distributed by 12 focus groups: health professionals, patients, informal caregivers, Catholics, nonbelievers, believers without regular religious practice, Evangelical, 7th Day Adventists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hindus, and Masters students. The results validate the dimensions proposed in the original module by the WHOQOL-SRPB Group. The focus groups also considered other dimensions, including the relationship with others and lifestyle, which in view of their importance, are likely to be included as new facets of the European Portuguese WHOQOL-SRPB. The results allow us to infer the transcultural features of WHOQOL-SRPB, strengthening that issues of spirituality, religion and personal beliefs have an important role in quality of life.

Keywords : Quality of life; Spirituality; Religion; Personal beliefs; Focus groups.
