Minimally adequate parenting is still not enough discussed and translated in indicators for parenting assessments, in despite being a concept far reported in the literature. This article enlarges that discussion from the presentation and analysis of three focus groups (FG) results, professionals from social work, courts and research that answered the question: what is and what are the minimally adequate parenting indicators? Discussions ‘content was analysed with QSRnVivo8 software. Content categories point to minimally adequate parenting’ qualitative indicators, distributed through different ecological levels (individual, microsystem, social context). It’s also noted that is not possible to use just one kind of indicators or to reach a universal formula of minimally adequate parenting. Based on this study contributions is proposed a three-dimensional matrix to translate this concept into case specific indicators.
