Abstract

The present study has the goal to identify the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome and its association to psychosocial factors in 63 teachers from special schools in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The instruments used were the Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo - CESQT-PE, an adapted version for teachers, the Battery for evaluating psychosocial risks, and a questionnaire for the other variables. Results show a prevalence of 30,6% of teachers who present Profile 1 in Burnout, considered a moderate level of the syndrome, and 14,3% present Profile 2, defined as the most severe form of Burnout. Profile 1 is associated to the increase of role conflict and inequity, while Profile 2 is associated to role conflict, work overload, inequity, work dissatisfaction, and health problems.
