This article reflects on the latest developments of Forensic Psychology in Portugal, particularly in one of the most important areas of interface between psychology and the justice system - the forensic psychological assessment and the contribution of psychology to judicial decision making. While highlighting the major contributions of Carla Machado to the development of this area, we point out paths to achieve the consolidation of the relationship between psychology and law.
