HIV infection rates have increased among Portuguese young adults, as in Europe and United Stated of America. Considering the pertinence of this fact this study aimed to characterize condom use among Portuguese young adults. The 1138 young adults that answered to the questionnaire disclosed an inconsistent use, more usual among older individuals with a steady partner. Sexual behaviors and condom use are identical among men and women, despite other studies indicate otherwise. Although having a condom use high intention, there is a gap between intention and behavior. More studies are necessary to understand condom use in a way to promote individual as social health, in the scope of sexual transmitted infections.
