Assessment is a core activity of professionals working with families with at-risk or in-danger, particularly maltreated children. Assessment is an activity orientated for the production of information which provides an answer to a specific set of pre-determined questions in order to facilitate decision-making. Based on a literature review this article presents a map of organization of assessments in cases of risk or danger, distinguishing different levels of assessment and describing a set of questions to facilitate the collection of information.
